EPFL N-Pulse is a project born from an idea to bring together passionate engineers to build biomedical solutions answering people’s specific needs.

Leveraging the power of creative engineering and open source contributions we are always striving to break the limits of what is feasible. Three main objectives define our project:

  1. Biomedical: Our project is built around making tailored state-of-the-art non-invasive biomedical technologies. Offering students an opportunity to delve right into the field of biomedical engineering, put theoretical knowledge into practice and get hands-on experience.

  2. Open source: Sharing is caring. The code, 3D models and PCBs we develop are freely available on GitHub. Anyone is free to contribute to the project, reuse it or improve it. The EPFL N-Pulse team is always happy to get feedback and discuss.

  3. Cutting-edge: We set no limit on complexity. Our aim is to propose solutions that are finer than existing ones even if it requires designing and building the mechanics or electronics in-house.

The first year’s goal will be to develop an arm prosthesis controlled by an EMG bracelet, along with a software responsible for 3D scanning the residual limb and a mobile application for EMG calibration.

In the following years, we will be welcoming new projects ranging from VR haptic gloves to EEG headsets.
